二本の柱の上部に冠木を貫き渡したこの門は、釘を使わず古来町家で培った技法で職人さんが丹精込めて作成されました。一歩入れば白川砂が敷き詰められ、この白い砂がお清めの塩代わりに身を清めてくれるのです。
This roofless portal is a gate composed of two square gate posts where a heavy horizontal beam or lintel, called kabuki, is inserted into the posts, extending from one end to another.
二人で一つの丸い石。周囲に小さな丸い石が三つずつかたまって配してあり、これは挙式での契りの儀「三三九度」を意味しています。三三九度をして「まあるく収めましょう」という意味が込められています。
One round stone for the two of them. All around the central one, little round stones are placed and combined in groups of three each. During the ceremony this represents the loyalty of the vow. Through the "3-3-9 times" evoked by the composition of stones, we hope that husband and bride will peacefully spend the rest of their lives together.
2つ灯籠が向かい合って配されています。お互いの灯籠が見つめあいながら照らす方角は、鬼門をさけ北西と南東となっており、末長く安泰を意味します。
Two stone lanterns are placed in order to face each other. While reciprocally fixing each other the stream of light goes from north-west and south-east, avoiding Kimon , in order to bring to husband and bride tranquility for a very long time.
お二人は左右に分かれ、清水が流れ落ちるツクバイで手水(ちょうず)を行います。その手水をやさしく受け止める水琴窟は2つの音が共鳴します。こうして幸せの鐘の音を二人で鳴らすことにより、ご縁を周りにお知らせするのです。
The couple is divided in left and right sides and they both have to perform the act of chナ鉱u (washing hands and face to purify oneself) in the garden stone basin where pure and fresh water continues to flow incessantly. The sound of the suikinkutsu kindly receiving the water from both chナ鉱u resonates of the harmony of two different sounds. It is as the newly weds has rang the bell of happiness, letting their bond known.
「四条」と「堀川」と彫られた石柱が目に入ります。石柱は明治時代に使用されていた現物で他では見られません。これは「しじゅう(四条・始終)ほれ(掘・惚)かわ」を意味しています。
This is where we find two stone columns with "Shijyo"and "Horikawa" ideograms carved on them. These columns are real pieces dating back to the Meiji era, which are impossibile to see elsewhere. The incisions respectively stays for "beginning and end" and "river of love".

パワーストーンと呼ばれる貴船石から力強く流れ出る雄滝、その側を湧き出すように緩やかにこぼれおちる雌滝の流れは自然に合流し美しい水のせせらぎとなり「二人が永遠に一緒」との想いが込められています。雌滝は観音石で観音様が見守って下さっています。
From the power spot of the kibune stone flows intensly the odaki (poweful cascade, male). To convey our hope for the eternal love of the couple the flow of the odaki harmonize with the gentle flow of the medaki (gentle cascade, female) composing naturally togheter in a single stream of limpid water.The medaki is protected by the Goddess of Mercy Kannon, thanks to the presence of the Kannon stone.
柳梅の紅梅が、岩横には柳梅の白梅(夫婦梅)があり、季節には紅白の流れるような梅が目を楽しませます。その他に、赤松と青松(夫婦松)、熊笹と小熊笹(親子笹)など現生収縮された世界が表現されました。
During the blooming season as red and white petals were floating in the sky, we can enjoy the variety of plum's trees colors: both the white version of the yanagi plum (which is a symbol of the couple) , horizontally growing from the rocks, as well as the red version of the same variety. Furthermore we have more plants used for their symbolical meaning. We can name for example the red pine tree, representing the transient world we are living in ; the blue one, representing the couple; and two varieties of bamboo that evoke children-parents relationship (kumazasa and kumazasa). Through this composition of plants and trees we canhavethe"Pinetree-Bamboo-Plum" combination.
母屋とお庭の左右の囲として袖垣を特別に制作頂きました。大きな袖垣(新郎)が小さな袖垣(新婦)を見守るように立っており、二人三脚をするように夫婦として歩みをとの祈りが込められております。
On both sides of the principal building and the garden there is a particular fence. It is composed by a big one (representing the broom) that stands behind a more little one ( the bride) as to protect it. The two fences are positioned as in Three-Legged Race game as to suggest to the couple to always rely on each other while walking the same path.

Kabukimon, hides a lovely heart mark. We can glimpse the playful intent of the landscape gardener himself, who we imagine painted it conveying his hope for the happiness of everyone.

currently 11°chief in charge of the Ueda family. Ogawa Jihei himself, full of fervent love and profound devotion, assures us that
from every single tree to every single blade of grass, this garden had been shaped on life and nature.

For the lifting operation three cypress tree trunks have been let dry out for half an year, selected for being straight, solid and able to substain 5 t are finally planted in the ground in order to pull up the stone.
And once the Kabukimon is finally erected we approach to the completion of power spots.

Growing their philosophy out of the principle: "Ueji-styled landscape gardening work starts from the inspiration we get from the mercy of Nature". Ogawa Jihei succeeded in 1970 as the 11th master of the Ueda family, dealing in garden's building since Edo era. He is now in charge of landscape gardening as the headmaster.

Taking into great account the history of tradition cultivated until now while keeping an eye on the development of the Japanese dress in Kyoto and contributing to the development in the area for everything that concerns high class ceremony.
